Kakegurui - Anime Review

Episodes : 12 episodes

Genre : Drama, Mystery, Psychological, School, Shounen

Plot : Hyakkaou Private Academy prepares students to survive in the real world by putting them into strenuous situations. It is a normal school during day time but at night, it turns into a gambling den. Since most of the students are from rich background, they gamble a lot with each other and the loser has to pay in some way! Thus, it makes students learn the art of using money and manipulating people.

Yumeko Jabami, a very innocent and charming girl is a transfer student at Hyakkaou. Unaware of school’s nightlife, she is challenged by a well known gambler. She defeats that well known gambler which marks her presence in the entire school. Unlike most of the other students, she doesn’t play to win or make money but for the thrill of the gamble. Later on, she challenges members of student council one by one who are known to be pro - gamblers.

Our Opinion :  With the first episode set right, I was hoping that the anime will bring lots of elements into it. But the harsh truth is it is completely based on some gambling games only. It doesn’t have a very strong plot which makes you dull after watching few episodes. Although the games are quite interesting but still the anime doesn’t make up to the mark.
Animation is pretty cool but I felt development of some characters required a bit of more attention.
Sound is pretty decent and the gambling games are very well executed with proper time given for each step.

Final Verdict : If you are looking for some good anime plots, then please don’t go for this anime. Only thing that is worth watching in this anime are the gambling games and the suspense it builds.

That’s it from my side. Thanks for reading and see you in the next review!
