AntiMagic Academy 35th Test Platoon : Anime Review

Episodes : 12

Genre : Action, Ecchi, Fantasy, Harem, Military, Romance, Supernatural, Magic

Plot : In a world plagued by magical dangers and threats, there exist special warriors—known as Inquisitors—who are tasked with non-violently preventing these threats and nefarious actions. The Anti-Magic Academy is a specialized school built to educate and train these Inquisitors, which splits its students into small squads in order to train them to work together. Among these talented squads is the 35th Test Platoon, also known as the "Small Fry Platoon" due to its low ranking and incompetent members.

However, everything changes when Ouka Ootori, a powerful yet rebellious former Inquisitor, is forced into joining due to her tendency to break rules and committing a serious violation: the killing of a witch. Tempers flare upon her arrival, as she clashes with their clumsy captain Takeru Kusanagi and argues with the rest of the squad over her views on witches. This eclectic group has a long way to go if they wish to succeed and climb the ranks at the Anti-Magic Academy: they must first set aside their differences and come to work together as a team.

Our Opinion : The name of anime is pretty self-explanatory about its synopsis. There are lots of genre in which this anime is included but honestly speaking only few of them such as Action, Fantasy and Ecchi plays the role! Now if you guys are in dilemma to watch this or not, here are some positives and negatives which will definitely help you in the decision.

First, let’s talk about the positive stuff :

  1. Protagonist is actually a good captain :  In spite of being powerless in many situations, I feel Kusanagi does the job of captain quite well. I feel captain is the one who combines the team which Kusanagi does marvelously.

  1. 35th Platoon has a variety of characters :  The 35th Platoon brings a lot of entertainment onto your table not just by actions and ecchi scenes but also by their overall characters as well.

  1. Side Stories / Arcs about other team members were quite deep : The story of the anime consists of various arcs which are related to the members of the 35th Platoon. Some of these arcs are quite emotional which might leave you in a sorrowful environment. Hence, they keep the flow going and won’t let you get dull in between.

Now, coming to negatives :

  1. Background about the World was missing : The world in which the story takes place should have been summarized in anime rather than just stating it like that. This would have actually helped anime in connecting more with the audience!
  1. Heavily Rushed : The problem with most of the small anime (12-13 episodes) is that of the improper pacing and this was quite felt in Antimagic Academy.
  1. Ending : The ending was pretty horrible! It was right on track till last episode with all the emotional and action stuff balanced but then it was horribly ended.

Final Verdict : Keeping in mind all the positive and negative stuff, I will say this anime is quite mediocre. I would suggest you to watch it in your free time but don’t give first priority to this because it’s not that great. However, if someone is looking for some ecchi anime just to pass some time, then this one is suitable for you!!!
